Sludge and negative energy attachments

How does one know for certain that a sludge energy has attached itself to them? I'm not absolutely sure but this might be the case. And I can't say if it was because of lax shielding or if it is something that has always followed and been with me. This is also a subject I know little about. I just feel like there is something there. Blocking me. Preventing me from moving forward. I don't even know if I'm explaining it right. Would love to hear more on sludge and negative energies. How one picks them up. How they attach themselves. And how we get rid of them and keep them gone. It would mean a lot to me to get some insight on this. Thank you so much.

The best thing to get rid of sludge is cleansing and killing it off. There are methods to do so in the forum. I can try and fish some of them up later.

Yup, there are plenty of topics here you can look up for more info!
Basically you can pick it up anywhere... places teeming with negative energy, hanging around people who are constantly negative, something tramautic happens to you and you're affected by it negatively, etc etc. Even bad posture and eating habits can contribute to it, I've heard

Sludge can build up in your chakras, so you have to cleanse them regularly.
Cleansing and shielding your home and magickal space are MUSTS since that can attract some things (not the good kind).
Doing shadow work and maintaining the right mindset can clear up sludge and blocks, and prevent some negativity from affecting you. It'll bounce right off and you'll be left unfazed ^^

It just builds up and really you can get it anywhere anytime, and you can prevent most cases but sometimes it will come through so you just have to destroy it. Kind of like the common cold lol.
