I find the whole Vlad history amazing. There are many schools of thought out there regarding him, some say he was as blood thirsty as they say he was, others saying that due to what happened in his childhood he needed to be ruthless so not to show weakness etc. The whole area was very unstable / volatile. He embraced technology and I remember hearing about his use of cannon balls on an independent documentary. Thank you for the article.
