This was stuck in my mind a bit. The name fits our celebration / event:

Sorry I've been away,
I only get sick once every ten years or so, and this was my time.
Slept twenty-four hours on Thursday, and I'm just now getting back to where I feel halfway decent.
As far as the song, the name of the song was Carnival, but the theme was more about the things her eyes saw, so I went with that theme

That sucks you were sick. I'm glad you are starting to feel better.

Nice! I have not heard of Bob Welch.
I do not know why, but I thought of this song.

I didn't even realize I was sick.
I was cold, and my back and legs hurt; but it wasn't until I slept for twenty-four hours and the blankets were completely soaked with sweat that realized that I had a fever.
My girlfriend would get a flu shot every year, and still got it at least twice every year.
I, on the other hand, haven't had a flu shot in at least forty years, and only once did I get it bad enough to miss work.
I used to be at the clinic so often for her (long story short, she was diabetic and everything that goes with it) and so rarely for myself, that the joke at the front desk was that I was allergic to doctors.
I'm glad you are starting to feel better.
Still got a strep, so nothing tastes good right now.
Tried mowing the lawn today, decided I wasn't ready for that yet. Did enough of it that it will look mowed from the street if you don't look too close.
Nice! I have not heard of Bob Welch.
It was popular around the early 80's. Now it seems like even the Classic Rock stations have forgotten about it.
Another one from the early days of MTV

I hope you are feeling better Dragonoake.
Yes, I remember that song. It has been awhile hearing that.
Here is another from around the same time . . .

And...
A bonus track just because the AI imagery that goes with it was just too cool not to share
