The ferris wheel fell off of its hinges and decided to take a field trip all around the carnivale? Does physics exist in the carnivale? Eh, I’ll find out.

A vast disturbance in the force

So I am going to guess void demons did this, by messing with reality and portals, and because they can.

Before the first meditation, my initial thought was also the void demons. But!! The way everything was turning all fleshy makes me want to point the finger at the mutilation demons for this one.

A combination of void demons and mutilation demons. They wanted to have fun at the carnivale too or make their own and they also wanted variety in their hunting grounds. Variety is the spice of life after all. (Or unlife)

Mutilation demons during the shift. They brought the energy into the carnival, shifting and twisting the energy therein. Interesting my mutilation demons appear different which is also part of what is feeding this speculation on my part (ie wearing masks). My ringmaster Ryn has a full venetian style face mask that he was wearing during the first meditation of the nightmare carnival. So I'm definitely going with mutilation shift that went a little crazy.

Who: the carnivale kittens
What: opened a portal to the eldtrich realms
Why: doing something cool means cat treats

My theory is that as the original carnival was for childlike joy, the nightmare carnival is for our inner teenager self. At least mine is anyway.

This is a chance to explore all that pain and tension and edge and cringe . Mutis and Void and Abyssals and all that jazz.

My guess: the Nightmare Carnivale rose up from the Underworld and we ge to see half dead stuff and dying things.
