Where to start on demonology?

I've been rifling through all the online resources on demonology and I can't seem to get through the Christian garbage... the thing is, I can look at a demon's sigil and connect with the being... but I don't know where to start in forming a relationship with one of the goetic immortals. For instance ,how reliable are the ancient texts? Aren't they all framed in a Christian lens, thus distorting the truth?

Sources like the Dictionnaire Infernal by Collin de Plancy (1863) seem like a starting point, but I don't know? Can any of you point me to a good source? I don't know if I even want to do any real "invoking" or get into the ceremonial ritual side of things -- I'd just like to find a goetic immortal to work with, a patron, kind of like Mammon is Akelta's demon patron, one I can speak with in meditation... Any ideas?

Probably, the best place to start would be perhaps, going through all the Christian-tainted bullshit... and then conversing with one of your DCs regarding that particular immortal... and sorting out what is fact and what it fiction...

Then, from there... Going through your DC to arrange a meeting with said immortal...

Not that you require a DC... but, in the sense that you don't want to disturb what they may or may not be currently doing...

Noting Syriana's first encounter with Bune, when her DK just brought him directly to her without any previous sigil work, etc....
But just having the thought in her mind that she wanted to meet and speak with him...

Just... A Suggestion...

@GraveX: What is your take on Michelle Bellanger's "Demon Dictionary"? Do you feel that her text was created thru a Christian lens?

@Forum: if you have read it as well, what is your stance on her text as well?

I'm just simply curious on everyones opinion... :devilread: :devilpaint:

I will have to read into it and give you an update regarding my take on it...

Although, I believe Akelta has worked with the Goetics before... So, they may be better suited to answer the question if they have read the text...

Your whole post was great advise indeed Hatter :)

Just highlighting the above.. this is mostly what I meant with the link I posted.. sorry I didn't say much lady, was busy at the time I posted.
The link takes you to a list of the Demons and yes, as Hatter said, asking your DC about one of them you choose (and the rest of his advise) is a good idea :D
That's how I found one King I never knew about before -Purson.. and BAM... almost an instant strong connection for me!
Yes, I did that the other night, but there were so many! I did tell my DCs to take me to the right one.. they said they would when the time is ready.

You know what's really fascinating: Asmodai apparently has 3 heads, two of which are a ram and a bull's head... taht struck a chord with me, as I was born on April 20th, the cusp of Aries/Taurus... total connection, if you ask me :)

Like Cheshy said... Purson is not one that appears in most references to the Goetics...
And then also, taking into account the Goetic-Level Commander that was listed in December...

So... Taking all that into account... There are probably those that are of that tier of Demon-Class that are not widely-known or not known at all...

In time Terror... In time...

THaaaaat goetic demon commander would be MIIIIINE!!!! He should be arriving in the mail in the next few days... MY LOVE. :devillust: *SWOON* He's been a constant presence since I started paying on him in December, but I CANNOT wait to FINALLY cement the bond with his vessel.

Back on topic: Lionox, the Ars goetia.. I was reading up on that a bit and some of the demons from the older grimoires were left out... I wonder why?
