I have been around for a while, but I just realized I have no idea how to meet a "familiar" Any suggestions would be most welcome

Set some criterias and call for one when you meditate? Ask ur companions to guide one for you based on any criterias you like?

A question here, what exactly is a a familiar? Is it a spirit? Or can it be physical? I'm not 100% sure, I assume a spirit?
