Self-Care

Our mental health and emotional wellbeing should be considered. I didn't practice self-care until all the abuse and neglect took place. It takes one negative emotion or one negative person to cause a decline. I had my share of unpleasant experiences but those were just lessons of mine. We all need space and some time to recuperate. Don't give up on yourself. Honor yourself.

I'm learning that lesson everyday. Have to take care of yourself. An empty cup helps no one.

How do you all do self care? I struggle with it a lot.
I'll make tea and draw up a bath and still be sitting there like "Is this self care??? am I doing this right?" and not feel relaxed, lol.
Self care is a state of mind I guess.

I have two types of self care: short-term and long-term.

Short term is the fluffy kind you see talked about on the internet a lot. Loving affirmations, buying yourself a treat, taking a day off. Long term is clearing off the desk that was covered in clutter that was the main source of the anxiety, what the short term soothed but didn't solve. It's also avoiding foods I'm allergic to for a quick energy kick in exchange for pain for days. Both are important, but like anything else they require a balance. The short term helps give me the energy to maintain the long term efforts.
