Where to Acquire Ritual Tools and Offering Supplies

Most ritual tools, most offerings, can be found at a pagan supply store. Black mirrors, athames, engraved sigils - there are plenty of internet sources.

That being said, there are tools that Demonolatry uses that are NOT readily available, or people need to know cheaper options.

For instance, I have a demon companion who loves bones, and also archeological fragments. Bones aren't too hard to get - Amazon has everything, but archaeological fragments, I'd have to dig into black market sources, and first of all, NO, because I respect those ancients more than that, and secondly, even if it wasn't an automatic no, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. So... He gets bones, and not archaeological stuff.

I also make monthly blood offerings to my Patron, and my Mentors (and a Hellborn companion) so I'm going to need to find a good source for sterile lancets at a reasonable price.

My Patron also likes spring water (fresh) or rain water (also fresh). I don't have access to a spring, I do not trust seller's of "spring water" because they often are either stealing the water, damaging the environment to get it, got it through playing dirty with us common folk, and if none of those are true, they're selling tap water.

Rain water I can collect for myself, and store carefully. Sosince I know it's from a trustworthy source, that's what he gets.

So, what tools do you feel you need, what offerings, and where do you find them?

Always ask a diabetic! 99 cents for a lancing device (for the wussies. XD) and same for a box of lancets. As for an athame, I rarely use mine and I think a person could do without, but I have demons that LIKE the energy of a bladed weapon, and DC Bane teaches katana and knife fighting for protection. It is not mandatory, but it is wise to know.

For spring water, I just buy it (then again I don't live in the states and when I buy bottled water that says spring water, it actually is spring water).

One thought if you don't trust the ones sold in stores and don't have access to a spring is to think of friends you have in other places not too far from you and ask them to collect and ship a bottle to you every now and then.

For archeological items, you can items that are sold legally but they're usually pretty expensive, unless it's something they regularly find in excavations, like certain types of vessels, coins etc from a specific era, in which case you can find some that a pretty affordable. If you really MUST offer something like that then I'd ask said spirit to pick the piece they want and then bring in the money needed to buy it.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that isn't always easily available is dirt from different places. While there are reputable sellers that collect dirt in an appropriate way from different places (such as crossroads, cemeteries, churches etc of different types), I occasionally need dirt from a particular place, or multiple types of places within the same city or town, and that's not something you can easily find in most cases. What I do is I look online for anyone offering what I'm looking for even if it wasn't collected the right way (which is easy in cases of holy sites for example, as you can find that for sale in lots of places) and use the dirt to connect to the land, give offerings and ask for permission to use the dirt for the purposes I have in mind.

In most cases though this is not possible, so I look for people that live in the area I'm interested in that could collect and ship the dirt to me. The best case scenario is that I'll know a magician or I'll know someone who knows someone who's a magician and lives there, so they can collect the dirt the right way (or if they don't know how, I will send them instructions). If I can't find a person who knows how to do it right or is willing to learn, then I'll look for someone who will just do it, and I'll try to get permission to use the dirt afterwards.

I can't think of anything else that's particularly tricky to find, but that's a great thread and if everyone posts what they are having trouble finding maybe someone else will have the answer, so let's keep it going!

Dirt from different places! I didn't even think about connecting that way. I know some people like to collect sand for fun (my mom loves to collect it from beaches we visit) but I didn't think about how we can use it as offering and to connect ^^

I don't use it as an offering to spirits unless the spirits are in some way tied to the area it comes from (sand from Egypt for example, on the altar of Egyptian deities). I mostly use it to either connect to the land or specific place it came from or in spellwork.

I don't normally use dirt for offerings, either. I use them to connect to specific energies and sometimes entities or spirits, which aid me in my magickal tasks. I think getting your soil from most websites, you really never know, so networking for supplies is always a better choice.

No - using an athame is purely a personal choice, though their are entities who like to work with metal offerings and some that like formalities as a sign of respect, so using an athame may be HELPFUL, in those situations. Not necessarily, just helpful.

This site can get expensive, but for shear variety it's hard to beat. I got a 2,000 year old Roman "Lilith Lamp" a few years ago. As well as a Celtic "bracelet" which wasn't a bracelet in the modern sense, it's made to be worn on the upper arm. The wearers bicep holds it in place. Mine is of bronze, about 3,000 years old. Both men and women wore them. Even if you don't buy anything, it's a great site to browse. They have Assyrian, Babylonian, Egyptian, all types of things. Many are common household items, from households thousands of years old. But they do have an interesting array of amulets from a variety of cultures

Wanted to add, for those looking for very particular types of incense - I bought some frankincense incense which was professionally harvested by an incense specialist, by hand, from different types of frankincense producing plants all over the middle east, and is neatly stored in separate bags, by origin and type - eg, Beyo, Boswellia carteri, origin: Somalia; Cricognimu, Boswellia dalzielii, origin: Burkina Faso; etc - if you're interested in the company, it's Ethereal Aromas Incense Company http://www.eaincense.com/ and trust me They Are Worth It.

They sell all kinds of stuff, including some really rare resins. Telomar (my old student) actually got something from them that was sticky, black, stinky af, and apparently came from some wild animal's musk glands, and is really, REALLY good for conjuring. Can't remember what it was, because while he absolutely LOVED the smell, it made ME gag, so...

But if you need it, you can get it from them, and it will be the genuine product. So check them out.

I make and grow as much of my own magical supplies as I can, with the exception of crystals, candles, resins and charcoal blocks. - these I find online at most pagan stores and the annual crystal fair we have here. While I learn new skills, I find that making your own also means you can forge the work with magic and intent. It does not detract from a bought and consecrated tool, but for me there is a strong connection and energy that can be found through making ones tools. Similarly I grow my own herbs and incenses for teas. There is something special about working magic with your own tools, or walking out the back door to cut a fresh piece of mugwort and lemon balm for tea.

I have made wands, pentacles, scourges, sigil pendant, athames, a table of practice, and am teaching myself to solder silver at the moment to be able to make rings of different sizes. I encourage people to have a go at making things where means and resources allow, and recognise not everyone has the space to grow plants or resources to buy tools - although much can be done with a sturdy knife and some foraging! I do think the spirits appreciate the work that you put into an item or offering that you make yourself and the bond is forged from inception.

I know you don't need as many tools for working with demons when approaching them respectfully rather than seeking to control them. I found Lord Satan likes me casting an elemental circle to balance the energy (no archangels at the quarters!!) when approaching him - I asked if he would prefer a simple approach, but he said he liked the ritual of it - as do I. S Connolly also conjours an elemental circle for her rituals. However a colleague on another forum has advised me when I approach Lucifuge not to cast any circle for he detests any control. As the essence of ever expanding darkness, this makes sense to me.
