Witchcraft, demons and curses

I'm so elated to of discovered this place and feeling the need to post about thoughts and feelings I've encountered over the years. Growing up I've had an incredible amount of bad events and luck enter into my life. My late mother used to tell me that I was possibly cursed by my father's ex-wife. Fast forward into the future, I've discovered a handful of books on witchcraft, tarot cards and a ouija board that had belonged to my mother. My questions are basically, is it possible my mom was a witch? Also, how do witches relate with demons (if at all)? I wonder how this could be related to my deep attraction into darkness and deeper thinking.
